Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is seeking first-team football.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen thinks he’s ready to start against Arsenal after missing the start of the season.
Spurs will be making the short trip to the Emirates Stadium this weekend, and will be desperate for a boost in the North London derby.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been unconvincing this season, even in wins and draws against Aston Villa and Manchester City, and especially in the defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.
Tottenham need a response, and Pochettino may need to make changes to his side as a result, with fans calling for the return of veteran Jan Vertonghen.
The 32-year-old Belgian has been left out of the Spurs side so far this season, and Pochettino wasn’t impressed with his fitness during pre-season.
Now though, it’s claimed that Vertonghen thinks he’s ready to play against Arsenal, and is working hard to prove to Pochettino that he should be starting the game.

Davinson Sanchez hasn’t impressed this season, and taking him out of the firing line for such a big game could be a wise move, with Vertonghen’s experience potentially vital.
His partnership with Toby Alderweireld should be important too, and whilst Pochettino hasn’t been convinced by Vertonghen’s fitness so far this term, it may now be time to bring him back in.
