According to Calciomercato, Andrea Belotti won’t be signing a new contract at Torino, with Arsenal interested in bringing him to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, this is positive news for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.

The 27-year-old’s contract expires in June 2022, and Calciomercato believe he will not be signing fresh terms with the Serie A side.

AC Milan are said to be favourites to sign Belotti, while Inter Milan are also sniffing around the situation.

The 39-cap Italy international has scored two goals in six Serie A appearances this season, which is far from his best.

Last term, Belotti netted 13 goals in 35 Serie A games, and hit 16 in 36 Serie A outings the season before.

In that respect, perhaps the contract situation is affecting his form.

Should Arsenal sign Andrea Belotti?

In our view, this is certainly a deal worth doing for Edu.

Yes, Belotti hasn’t been his prolific best this season, although it’s not often a striker of this quality comes on the market for such a small fee.

Torino will now be forced into a cut-price deal this January, or else they will lose their No.9 for nothing in June.

In our view, Belotti looks well suited to Premier League football, and has all the tools needed to thrive in England.

After all, Sky Sports described him as a forward with ‘echoes of Jamie Vardy’ which bodes well for Belotti.

The Leicester No.9 has 125 Premier League goals to his name, so if Belotti does even half as well as that, he would be an excellent signing.
