Nottingham Forest winger Jamie Paterson could be on the move before the start of the new season.
The Nottingham Post has reported that winger Jamie Paterson has been linked with a move to the club’s Championship rivals Wolves.
The fixture lists have been released and Forest manager Dougie Freedman will be firmly focused on next season and assembling a squad of players, which is capable of pushing for a position in the top six.
The paper suggests that Paterson doesn’t feature in the Scot’s plans with the rumour creating a couple of interesting questions.
Will he be missed?
The stats from last season suggest that he wasn’t a big part in the thinking of former manager Stuart Pearce or current boss Freedman.
He made 22 appearances in the Championship, with 18 of those coming as a substitute, which suggests he’s been viewed as an impact player.
Can Forest afford to let him go?
If no other players leave the club then yes.
Freedman has a solid wide option in the form of Michail Antonio and good options in terms of youth.
It will be interesting to see if he gives Oliver Burke more of a role in the first team moving forward.
Burke certainly has the core traits needed to be successful as a wide player for the club such as his pace and raw energy.
