According to Marca, Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez is now ‘very close’ to finalising a move to Everton.
It’s claimed that Carlo Ancelotti has been the key in negotiations, and a deal worth between €25million to €30million (£22.4million to £27million) is now close.
Rodriguez has allegedly accepted the move because of Ancelotti, with a three-year deal believed to be in the pipeline.
These reports come just hours after the Liverpool Echo suggested that Rodriguez does indeed want a move to Goodison Park, but his wages were an issue.
They claimed that Everton would only go for a loan deal with Rodriguez’s £200,000-a-week wages subsidised in the deal.
Reports in Spain now suggest that Rodriguez is heading to Everton, so it will be interesting to see how the Toffees have funded a move.

The Colombian worked with Rodriguez at both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, so a reunion isn’t a huge surprise.
Rodriguez, 29, cost Real £71million back in 2014, but failed to really shine at the Bernabeu, and could soon call Merseyside home.
