According to the report, the Toffees value the 26-year-old midfielder at more than £20 million, and that they have told him that he can leave Goodison Park if a suitable offer comes in.
McCarthy is a good midfielder and has a lot of experience in the Premier League, but the Republic of Ireland international is not guaranteed a place in the Everton starting lineup.
Ronald Koeman’s side are looking strong in midfield at the moment, and the Merseyside outfit can afford to let the former Wigan Athletic man go this summer.
Both Newcastle and West Brom could benefit from having the former Hamilton Academical midfielder in their respective squads.
McCarthy scored one goal and provided one assist in 12 Premier League appearances for Everton during the 2016-17 campaign.
