Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles has been struggling with injury for four months.

According to a report in The Sun, Jamaal Lascelles has been playing with injury for Newcastle United for over four months.
Lascelles has suffered with a hernia problem, and the centre-back is set to go under the knife recently to correct it.
Rafael Benitez felt that Lascelles was such an important player for Newcastle that he could not afford to be without him as his side pushed for promotion.
And the 23-year-old was happy to play through the pain barrier, to help his side return to the Premier League.
Lascelles has actually received a fair amount of criticism from Newcastle fans in recent months, but the defender’s injury problems show why his form dipped.

And Newcastle fans have been quick to apologise for making too hasty a judgement on Lascelles.
Lascelles’ attitude also proves exactly why Benitez made him Newcastle’s captain at the start of the season.
Lascelles will now sit out of Newcastle’s final game of the season, which comes against Barnsley on Sunday.
The former Nottingham Forest man is expected to be back fit again for next season, when Newcastle will be back in the top flight.
