Jak Alnwick has agreed to leave Rangers on loan, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reports Alnwick will link up with Stuart McCall, the former Rangers player and manager, at Scunthorpe United.

The goalkeeper has slipped to third in the pecking order, behind Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham, since the former arrived at Ibrox earlier in the summer.

And Steven Gerrard, the newly appointed Rangers manager, is said to have sanctioned Alnwick’s departure.

McCall was only hired by Scunthorpe yesterday [Monday] and the 25-year-old looks set to become the first signing of his Glanford Park reign.

Matt Gilks, the man Alnwick effectively replaced at Rangers, was recently ruled out until 2019, leaving Scunthorpe short between the sticks.
