Jadon Sancho is still pushing for a move away from Manchester City, with Arsenal and Tottenham vying for his signature.
According to The Independent, Manchester City winger Jadon Sancho is refusing to return to the club for training as he waits for them to let him leave.
Whilst youngsters such as Phil Foden and Brahim Diaz have enjoyed promising pre-season campaigns for City, the same can’t be said for fellow prodigy Sancho, who has been left out of the club’s US tour.
Sancho, 17, is regarded as one of English football’s top young talents, after City swooped to land him from Watford in 2015, and he has been starring for the club’s youth and development sides.
With 16 goals in 23 games for England at youth level, Sancho continues to shine – but he is attempting to force a move away from the Etihad Stadium over fears about his path to the first team, hence him being left at home whilst City tour America.
The Independent now report that the situation is deteriorating, as Sancho is now refusing to return to City for training, having made it abundantly clear that he wants to leave after rejecting a new £30,000-a-week contract.
It’s even stated that Sancho is waiting for City to let him go, enabling him to move on to another club for a compensation fee of around £4million, with Arsenal and Tottenham leading the race to sign him.
Having failed to show up for training with City since last week, Sancho clearly feels that his time is up, and whilst City persist with their attempts to keep him, they appear to be fighting a losing battle.
Tottenham allegedly tried to have Sancho included in the deal that took Kyle Walker to City last month, but that approach failed. Whilst Arsenal are also keen, Tottenham may now have new hope of landing Sancho – if City do agree to release Sancho this summer.
