According to the Daily Record, Belgian side Oostende want to sign Celtic defender Jack Hendry – but he hasn’t given up hope of convincing Neil Lennon.

It’s claimed that Oostende have ‘expressed an interest’ in signing Hendry, and want to take him on loan for the 2020-21 season – whenever that may start.

Hendry will go through pre-season training with Celtic. During his time on loan at Melbourne City in Australia, Hendry suffered a major knee injury and now needs to get back to top form and fitness.

A move to Belgium could appeal, but it’s stated that Hendry actually hasn’t given up hope of forcing his way into Neil Lennon’s Celtic side next season.

Hendry still has two years left on his deal, and it’s unclear just how Celtic plan to deal with the Scot’s future having seen him make little impact at Parkhead.

The major factor in Hendry’s favour is that Celtic have just let Jozo Simunovic leave on a free transfer. Money may be tight this summer in light of the global pandemic, so finding a cheap replacement could be difficult.

In Hendry, Celtic could have an in-house solution. He hasn’t exactly impressed since signing from Dundee in 2018, but he seemingly believes he can still be of value at Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers signed him, but Lennon has given him just one appearance since becoming Celtic boss. For that reason, it’s hard to see his fortunes changing.
