Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly expected to sign Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish is expected to join Tottenham Hotspur, even though the clubs have yet to agree a fee.
Grealish, 22, has come up through the ranks with his boyhood club Villa, and whilst he impressed under Tim Sherwood in the latter stages of the 2014-15 season, he lost his way under Remi Garde and Roberto Di Matteo.
This past season, Grealish rekindled his best form, hitting three goals and six assists in 30 games, but couldn’t help Villa win promotion as they lost 1-0 to Fulham in the Championship play-off final.
Villa’s dire financial situation since that game has been well-documented, and Grealish – newly refocused thanks to the influence of experienced pro’s at Villa such as John Terry – is the most valuable asset.
Now, the Birmingham Mail report that Grealish is expected to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the near future, with Spurs the only club ‘seriously interested’ in signing the playmaker.
It’s claimed that Villa want £30million for Grealish, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is sitting back and watching Villa’s financial troubles in the hope that he can get the fee closer to £15million.
Grealish is allegedly aware of Mauricio Pochettino’s interest in signing him, and is now expected to complete a move to North London before the August transfer deadline.
