The Newcastle United left-back has failed to impress on Tyneside.
Reports emanating from Italy today suggest that Serie A side Genoa are lining up an offer for Magpies left-back Achraf Lazaar, in preparation for Diego Laxalt’s exit this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 25-year-old joined Newcastle from Palermo last summer, but subsequently failed to establish himself as a first-team regular for Rafa Benitez’ side, making just four Championship appearances, with all of those coming from the bench.

So it would be little surprise to see him leave Tyneside during the transfer window, considering the minimal impact he had for the Toon last term during their successful campaign, that eventually culminated in their promotion to the Premier League.
And Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Genoa will move for the £2.5 million Magpies ace, if and when Laxalt leaves the club. The Italian side are believed to be targeting Lazaar because of his experience of playing in Serie A.
And there will surely not be too many Newcastle fans who will be unhappy to see the back of the Morocco international, on the condition that Rafa Benitez brings players of sufficient quality into St James’ Park this summer.
