Roma are ready to offer Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen a two-year deal, according to the Daily Express.

Vertonghen’s contract at Tottenham is due to expire at the end of the season, and he has still not penned fresh terms.

There have been suggestions recently that Tottenham would like to keep the experienced Belgian around and are planning on extending his current contract.

But Roma are reportedly ready to steal him away from Spurs, as they would like to bring him to Italy.

Whether the move will appeal to Vertonghen now remains to be seen.

Vertonghen has only been used in a rotational role at Spurs this term, with the 33-year-old showing some signs of age.

Vertonghen has been exposed for a lack of pace on occasion, with Tottenham’s defence looking vulnerable all season.

Losing Vertonghen could be a blow for Spurs still though as he is one of the most experienced members of Jose Mourinho’s squad and still offers a valuable option at the back.
