Inter Milan have transfer listed Matias Vecino and are willing to sell the reported Aston Villa and West Ham United target for as little as £6 million, as reported by Calciomercato.

The long-serving Uruguayan may end the season with a Serie A winner’s medal hanging around his neck but Inter’s first Scudetto triumph in a decade may feel somewhat bittersweet.

Vecino has played just one minute of league football this season, after all, making his return in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Torino after eight months out with a knee injury.

And, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2022, the 29-year-old’s San Siro story appears to be coming to a rather disappointing conclusion.

Calciomercato reports that Inter have put the former Sampdoria ace up for sale, preferring to sell now rather than lose him on a free a year from now.

Aston Villa and West Ham made offers for the Uruguay international recently but whether Vecino is wearing claret and blue next season is anyone’s guess (CM).

The arrival of Morgan Sanson from Marseille has added depth to Dean Smith’s midfield but that will be offset by the departure of Chelsea loanee Ross Barkley.

There is also a nagging concern that Man City will exercise their buy-back option for Douglas Luiz.

West Ham, meanwhile, look destined to be playing European football next term.

And while that is a cause for much excitement, David Moyes’s rather slim squad will be stretched to its limits by an expanded fixture schedule. Vecino, should he avoid another long-term absence, could ease the burden on Declan Rice and Thomas Soucek at the London Stadium.
