Alessandro Bastoni joining Tottenham Hotspur looked like a complete and utter pipedream earlier this week.

The Inter Milan defender’s agent claimed that his client adored the San Siro outfit.

And when Bastoni himself responded to the quotes on Instagram by posting a black and blue heart emoji – the colours of Inter – well that was a coffin nail in Tottenham’s chances of signing the player.

Or was it?

Well, apparently not.

That’s because FC Inter 1908 has intimated that a transfer to Spurs could be back on the table.

That’s because the San Siro club’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has flown to London to discuss a potential transfer with the Lilywhites’ hierarchy.

According to the report, Ausilio’s objective is to gauge how serious Fabio Paratici is about signing the 23-year-old – and see how much Tottenham are willing to spend on the player.

It has previously been reported that Bastoni will set the North Londoners back a whopping £54 million [The Times] but, if they’re prepared to pay that figure, it looks like Antonio Conte and Paratici could sign the Italy international after all.

Well it looks a lot more possible now than it did before his agent spoke in midweek.

However, the situation remains very much the same: Spurs need to pay the money.

This isn’t a player who the Lilywhites are going to get on the cheap and, as mentioned, this is the exact reason Ausilio is speaking with the club in person, to see how genuine they are.
