According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina have made an offer for River Plate defender Martinez Quarta.
The 24-year-old was linked with Leeds United in August, with El Intransigente reporting that Marcelo Bielsa’s side were closely following the Argentine.
That same report states that Quarta has a €20 million (£18.3 million) release clause in his contract with the Argentine giants.
However, it now appears as if Serie A outfit Fiorentina have made a concrete offer for the man with two caps for the Argentina national team.
Di Marzio states that the Italian club have made an offer for Quarta, and while it has not been accepted by River Plate, the two sides are working towards an agreement.

While it seems like Bielsa had an eye on the Mar del Plata-born footballer, circumstances have changed since El Intransigente first revealed Leeds’ interest.
The Yorkshire-based club have since signed Diego Llorente from Real Sociedad in a deal worth around £18 million according to the BBC.
Funnily enough, that figure is roughly £300,000 shy of Quarta’s release clause, so perhaps there is something in the financial similarities of the two players.

There has been no concrete report signalling the end of Leeds’ interest in Quarta.
However, given their capture of Llorente, you would naturally presume they won’t go after yet another centre-back, especially having already signed Robin Koch earlier in the window.
