Newcastle United have reportedly shown interest in Andrej Kramaric but it will cost a massive £43.7million to sign the Hoffenheim forward.
Newcastle United would have to pay a whopping £43.7m if they wanted to sign Andrej Kramaric from Hoffenheim this summer.
The Chronicle reports of the Magpies’ interest in Kramaric as manager Rafa Benitez looks to sign at least one new striker ahead of next season.
Newcastle are still considering a move for Nicolai Jorgensen, whom they showed interest in signing in January but failed to meet Feyenoord’s £20m valuation.
Now it will cost £21.9m if they want to land Jorgensen, but that is small fry in comparison to the price-tag being slapped on former Leicester City forward Kramaric by sporting director Alexander Rosen.
“I never rule out anything,” Rosen told German publication TZ last month.
“During the winter break, we had an offer from Italy for Andrej of €30m (£26.2m).
“That was not an option for us. But what happens if €50m (£43.7m) are bid, I cannot say.”
Considering that the Premier League club’s transfer record fee paid for a new player still remains at the £16m sanctioned for Michael Owen back in 2005, a deal for Kramaric looks extremely unlikely.
However, it is becoming more and more apparent that owner Mike Ashley will have to break that 13-year record if he wants to back Benitez in the current market.
