Newcastle United took Islam Slimani on loan from Leicester City until the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle United will not be signing Islam Slimani this summer.
Slimani joined Newcastle on loan from Leicester City for the rest of the season, but he has already played his last game for the club.
Slimani has been retrospectively banned for the rest of the season, and he is set to return to Leicester now.

Newcastle have decided against snapping up the Algerian, who has struggled to make an impact at St. James’ Park.
Slimani initially struggled with injury, and when he did return to full fitness, he was generally used as a substitute.
The 29-year-old made just one start for Newcastle during his four-month stay with the Tynesiders.
Slimani’s move to Newcastle was the only January signing which Rafael Benitez’s side made which didn’t work out.

Martin Dubravka and Kenedy were also brought in during the previous transfer window, and the pair had a big impact in keeping Newcastle in the Premier League for next season.
Where Slimani’s future lies is now very uncertain, as he has struggled to break into Leicester’s team in recent times.
