It looks like the Leicester City forward is closing in on a move to Newcastle United.

According to The Daily Mail’s Live Transfer Blog, Islam Slimani has landed at Newcastle airport ahead of his move to Newcastle United from Leicester City.
The Mirror reported earlier on deadline day that the 29-year-old’s switch to the St James’s Park club was all but done, with a £2 million loan move mooted.
That update came after The Mail suggested that any transfer to a Premier League club would have to be a permanent one as Leicester were reportedly unwilling to sanction temporary moves to a rival.

But it looks like that was false and the Algeria striker looks to be closing in on a move to the Magpies after landing in Newcastle airport this afternoon.
United, who have only signed Kenedy so far, have plenty of time in which to complete a deal ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Slimani cost the Foxes a club-record £29 million only 18 months ago, but eight goals in 35 Premier League games mean he is something of a flop.
Still, Newcastle, who only have Dwight Gayle and Joselu as striking options as Aleksandar Mitrovic nears a loan exit, will certainly enhance their survival chances by getting him.
