Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly try to sign the Real Madrid player next summer.

Isco celebrates scoring for Real Madrid

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Real Madrid play-maker Isco is likely to remain at the Bernabeu until the summer, at which point Tottenham Hotspur are set to make their move.

Spurs were linked with a late swoop for the 24-year-old in the last transfer window and they have again been tipped to complete a deal in January. However, the Standard is now claiming that the more realistic option is that the Spaniard will remain in his homeland until the end of the season, at which point he will move on.

By then Isco would have just a year left on his contract and a permanent switch would be the only viable option.

The duration of his deal could also mean Tottenham could secure a move for a knock-down price, which would be a superb piece of business for a player with undeniable talent. That said, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is likely to have competition for the player’s signature.

The question has to be asked as to where exactly Isco would fit into this Tottenham side, but with Pochettino believed to be a big fan this one looks like remaining in the rumour mill for some time to come.
