Newcastle United have real hope of keeping Isaac Hayden.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden was impressed with the club’s summer transfer business and may now sign a new deal.
The Magpies kept hold of Hayden throughout last season despite him wanting a move down south for family reasons, with Rafael Benitez refusing to cash in.
The likes of Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham United both wanted Hayden over the summer according to The Northern Echo, but nobody met the £15million asking price.
Newcastle then appointed Steve Bruce as Rafael Benitez’s successor, which was interesting for Hayden given that Bruce signed him for Hull City in 2015.
It’s now claimed that Hayden has enjoyed their reunion and is edging towards a U-turn over his Newcastle future by signing a new contract and shelving those plans to move back down south.
Additionally though, it’s noted that Hayden was impressed with Newcastle’s summer business, and that’s a factor in his likely decision to commit his future to the Magpies.
Ayoze Perez may have gone, but Newcastle did bring in Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, Emil Krafth, Jetro Willems and Andy Carroll, bolstering Bruce’s squad with some decent additions.
Some fans may not have been completely convinced, but it at least impressed Hayden, and may just help Newcastle keep one of their most important midfield players.
