Isaac Hayden wanted to leave Newcastle United over the summer.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United could finally allow Isaac Hayden to leave the club in January – but only if a new midfielder comes in.
The Magpies have won three on the bounce now, and will be looking to make it four in a row when they take on West Ham United at St James’ Park this weekend.
Manager Rafael Benitez is even boosted by the return of Jonjo Shelvey, and he was on the bench against Burnley on Monday night as Mohamed Diame and Ki Sung-yueng started in the engine room.
That all means that Hayden remains unlikely to feature prominently, even if he did come as a brief substitute against Burnley on Monday night.
Hayden, 23, has started just one Premier League game this season and has made an additional three substitute appearances, all since asking for a summer move away from the club.
The Chronicle reported that Hayden had asked for a move back down south, and Brighton were prepared to pay £10million for Hayden, but Newcastle refused to let him go.

Now, The Chronicle have updated the situation by claiming that Newcastle would be willing to let Hayden go if they manage to sign a new midfielder themselves, which isn’t currently a priority.
It seems like Newcastle are still planning for life with Hayden at the club, but if Brighton came back with a similar offer, it may be interesting to see whether the Magpies take it and try to reinvest in a new midfielder in January.
