Ipswich Town have been linked with Millwall’s Tom Elliott.
According to the South London and Press, Ipswich Town are expected to make another move for Millwall’s Tom Elliott two weeks after the Suffolk club halted a loan move for the striker.
The East Anglian Daily Times reported at the end of July how Ipswich halted their deal to sign Elliott after hitting a snag during his medical at Portman Road.
The 28-year-old was carrying a hamstring injury sustained during pre-season, and Ipswich felt he could be out for longer than expected therefore they opted against bringing him in at the time.
The transfer window has now closed, but Championship clubs can still loan out their players to clubs playing in lower divisions and Ipswich fit into that category following their relegation to League One last term.
The Tractor Boys signed six players during the summer, but James Norwood was their only attacking addition as the 28-year-old arrived on a free transfer from Tranmere Rovers.
Ipswich boss Paul Lambert seemingly wants to bring in one more striker after agreeing to sell Ellis Harrison to Portsmouth, and Elliott is a viable option with Millwall boss Neil Harris confirming his return to training.
Millwall signed Matt Smith, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Harvey Bradbury for striker options this summer. Elliott has been pushed down the pecking order, especially with Tom Bradshaw returning from a lengthy injury.
Elliott has plenty of experience and scored 13 goals for AFC Wimbledon in the 2016-17 season. His contract expires with the Lions next summer, therefore a successful loan move to Ipswich could prompt a permanent move next summer.
