Former Ipswich Town defender Tyrone Mings is on the verge of completing a permanent transfer to Aston Villa from fellow Premier League side Bournemouth.
Ipswich Town may receive £1.85 million from Tyrone Mings’ potential transfer to Aston Villa this summer, according to a report.
The East Anglian Times have reported that Mings, who came through the ranks at Ipswich as a youngster before moving to Bournemouth, could receive a windfall from his supposed big money transfer to the newly-promoted club.
Centre-back Mings was on-loan at Aston Villa for a six-month period last season, and during his time at the club, he helped them earn promotion to the Premier League.
That increased his chances of making a switch from the South Coast to the Midlands this summer, as he is now on the verge of signing for the club for a fee that could rise to £26.5 million, according to the Guardian.
If this were to happen then, as mentioned in the earlier report, it will benefit Ipswich, who put a 10% sell-on clause in his contract when he left the Tractor Boys for Bournemouth for £8 million in 2015.
Ipswich are managed by former Villa boss Paul Lambert, who will be preparing for League One football in August following their relegation from the Championship last season.
This potential sum of money will no doubt be a huge boost in the transfer market to Lambert because he can use it to help improve his squad as they push for a return to the second tier.
As for Mings, he would be delighted that he is helping out his former club in such a manner as he will now be preparing to reunite with his former teammates at Bodymoor Heath.
