Schalke’s Weston McKennie favours a move to the Premier League this summer, after speculation linking him with English clubs Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers – that’s according to The Telegraph.
The newspaper reports McKennie is one of the players Schalke will look to sell to ‘balance their books’, adding that he is set to move for ‘just £25 million’.
But while Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle and Wolves have each been credited with an interest, the Toffees are the only Premier League club mentioned in The Telegraph‘s article, which describes Carlo Ancelotti’s side as ‘admirers’.
Hertha Berlin are also named as suitors, although the newspaper reiterates that, according to sources close to McKennie, ‘his ideal move would be to England’.
The Washington State native, who spent three of his childhood years in Germany, returned to the country with Schalke in 2017 and has played 91 times for his current employers.
Typically deployed as a defensive midfielder, McKennie has chipped in with five goals and seven assists in that time and won 19 caps for the United States.

The 21-year-old’s position is one in which Everton have been weakened of late through the injury to Jean-Philippe Gbamin and sale of Morgan Schneiderlin.
