Declan Gallagher is reportedly keen on a move to Celtic.

Neil Lennon’s men have been vulnerable in defence this season, shipping 15 goals in 19 league games as they fell 19 points behind Rangers in the title race.

They also finished bottom of their Europa League group after conceding 19 goals in six matches.

With Neil Lennon confirming on Sky Sports that Christopher Jullien will be out for “a few months”, it will be no surprise if the champions move to strengthen in that area during the January transfer window.

According to Record Sport, Motherwell centre-back Gallagher could be set for a move to Celtic Park.

They report that Gallagher, who has been capped seven times by Scotland, is keen on a move to his boyhood heroes.

His contract expires in the summer, but a move could potentially be scuppered by a one-year extension that will be triggered if he plays six more games for the Fir Park side.

They claim that former Celtic youth Gallagher wants to avoid playing those six matches, and quote a source close to the player as saying: “He is desperate to play for Celtic and in the current climate, he would be a brilliant signing.

“But with this contract and the automatic extension, he feels he has a gun to his head.”

The report also says that Gallagher is attracting interest from Aberdeen, Hibs and Blackburn Rovers.

The 29-year-old joined Motherwell from Livingston in 2019, and has made 60 appearances for the club.
