The West Ham United is making quite a name for himself.
Inter Milan are weighing up a £38 million bid for West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet, according to The Mail.
Payet’s stock continues to rise rapidly after the 29-year-old followed up a superb first season with West Ham by dazzling for France at Euro 2016.
The former Marseille man, who joined the Irons for £10 million last summer, is arguably the best player in the tournament so far and he will hope to continue helping les Bleus ahead of tomorrow’s semi-final with Germany.
But there is, however, drawbacks to lighting up a major competition in front of the world and West Ham fans will be worried that their hero has attracted attention from bigger fish in the transfer market.
If rumours are to be believed then that’s very much the case as The Mail report that Inter Milan consider a big-money offer for the Frenchman.
West Ham co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan have stressed that Payet will not be sold, but what a club’s hierarcy do and say are different things entirely and rejecting a bid of that scale would be tough.
£38 million for a 29-year-old is huge money, but it is testament to the player’s talent.
Gold and Sullivan are businessman first and foremost and that would represent cracking business, though Hammers fans would certainly not see it that way.
He is contracted to the club until 2021, having penned an extension earlier this year.
