The Spurs player looks unlikely, but the Manchester City star looks like a genuine possibility.
Tottenham’s Erik Lamela in action
Reports in Italy are suggesting that Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has been on a mission to England this week – with players from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City on the agenda.
The report from Corriere dello Sport, as relayed by FC Inter 1908, suggests that Ausilio was in England to gauge the chances of bringing Erik Lamela in from Spurs and Yaya Toure from Manchester City.
Manchester City’s Yaya Toure
The report suggests that Lamela now looks an unlikely deal. Inter were willing to stretch to around €25 million (£19.7 million) but that Spurs do not believe that is a good deal.
Last summer Tottenham would have been ready to consider that fee, after a tough first two seasons at White Hart Lane for the Argentine. But he impressed last term and Tottenham would be demanding a bigger asking price that the Italians simply cannot afford.

However, the Manchester City midfielder looks a more likely target. He is believed to want an Inter move. City’s new boss Pep Guardiola famously fell out with Toure at Barcelona and the Ivorian is expected to leave.
So it would seem the Italian media are fairly convinced – Lamela stays at Spurs, but Toure departs City as Inter Milan look to improve their squad.
