Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen appears to be a target for Inter Milan.

According to Calciomercato, Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio travelled to North London on Tuesday night to watch Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen.
Tottenham hosted Ajax in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night, and were hoping to bounce back from a 1-0 home defeat to West Ham United.
However, the Dutch side excelled once again, and grabbed a 1-0 victory as midfielder Donny van de Beek scored the only goal of the game to give Ajax the advantage.
A whole host of Ajax players will have been attracting interest from scouts around the world throughout their Champions League run, but it seems a Spurs player was being watched on Tuesday too.
Calciomercato report that Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio was at the game, and wanted to take a look at Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen amid uncertainty over his contract.
The Belgian, 32, is out of contract in 2020, and whilst Inter are adding Diego Godin to Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij, it seems that Vertonghen is also wanted at the San Siro.

It may have felt like something of a wasted journey though, as Vertonghen was substituted in the first half with a nasty head injury, which will also keep him out of this weekend’s game against Bournemouth.
The report does though add that Ausilio also watched Nicolas Tagliafico, and Spurs will be hoping to fend off any interest from the Italian giants if they come calling for Vertonghen any time soon.
