West Ham United have reportedly failed in their move for Inter Milan’s Joao Mario.
According to Sky Sports, Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario has rejected a move to join West Ham United on loan for the rest of the season.
The Hammers are in fine form under David Moyes, having won four of their last eight Premier League games, including the 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town last weekend.
West Ham are now moving away from the relegation zone, but manager Moyes is still in the market for new signings, especially in midfield.
Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang and Cheikhou Kouyate need competition, but West Ham have missed out on one target, with Sky Sports reporting that Inter Milan’s Joao Mario has rejected a move to the London Stadium.
It’s claimed that West Ham were hoping to land Mario, but he has decided against a move to East London, despite his bit-part role at the San Siro this season.
After starring in his native Portugal with Sporting, Mario moved on to Inter in the summer of 2016, for a fee in the region of £40million after starring at the European Championships in France.
The midfielder impressed in his first season with five goals and three assists in Serie A, but he has been out of favour under Luciano Spalletti this term, starting just five league games so far.
Many expected the 24-year-old to move on this month in search of first-team football, but he has now snubbed a move to West Ham, leaving Moyes to go back to the drawing board in his search of a new midfielder.
