A report from Italian outlet Calciomercato has suggested that Inter Milan plan to throw the kitchen sink at trying to convince Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to come to San Siro and hope to meet the Spurs manager today.

According to Calciomercato, Inter have earmarked Pochettino and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte as potential targets as they look to permanently replace Stefano Pioli following his recent departure. And although Conte is their preferred option, Pochettino is reportedly the easier target to pursue due to the presence of a release clause in his contract.

Calciomercato reports that Pochettino could be released from his contract if a fee of around £4.26 million (€5 million) is paid, and the Serie A side have sent a representative to London today in the hope that they can meet with the Argentinian and offer to double his salary.

Despite the Nerazzurri seemingly being capable of offering the finances required to make a move happen, or at least, make it seem quite tempting, Calciomercato adds that a deal is highly unlikely, and it is not difficult to see why.

Tottenham are guaranteed of finishing second in the Premier League this term and will take their place in the Champions League group-stages once again next season, and there is a sense that Spurs will only continue to go in one direction with plenty of potential in their squad.

Meanwhile, Inter are eighth in the Italian top flight, 29 points adrift of champions Juventus and even 10 points off a Europa League spot.

And having not finished in the top three since 2011, Pochettino would surely be taking a huge gamble deciding to turn his back on the work that is continuing to be done at Spurs and starting again in Italy.
