Davy Klaassen has struggled to make an impact since moving to Everton from Ajax.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claim Serie A giants Inter Milan are monitoring Davy Klaassen as a back-up transfer option if they fail to complete the signing of Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira.
The report states that Inter are interested in signing Argentine in a deal that would cost the Italians £21.5million. However, if they fail to lure Torreira to the San Siro, Klaassen is eyed as their next option.
It has been widely reported that the Holland international almost joined Napoli in the January transfer window, only for a move to fall through due to a disagreement over the 25-year-old’s image rights.
He has featured for just six minutes in 2018, coming on as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Brighton, as well as playing 70 minutes of the Under-23 side’s 2-0 win over Swansea City.
Klaassen has failed to replicate his Ajax form at Everton, who signed him from last season’s Europa League finalists for a fee believed to be worth £25million. In total, he has made just 14 senior appearances for the Toffees, costing a princely £1.8million every appearance.
Despite his poor form, the report claims Inter are willing to offer Klaassen an escape route and are monitoring his situation ahead of striking the “decisive” blow. Klaassen has four years remaining on his Everton deal.
