Report: Inter Milan make loan offer for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge is expected to leave Liverpool this month in search of regular first-team football.

BBC Sport understands that Inter Milan have made an approach to take Daniel Sturridge on loan from Liverpool are are prepared to pay a “significant” fee to get the deal done.

The report does not reveal the exact sum offered to Liverpool but adds that Inter are also willing to pay all of Sturridge’s wages if he joins them for the rest of the season.

The Daily Mail claims that Sturridge has a salary of £150,000 per week, so Inter are clearly serious about signing the striker as they aim to qualify for the Champions League from Serie A.

A permanent transfer at the end of the season has also been discussed, according to BBC Sport, but Inter probably want to test Sturridge’s fragile fitness before committing to that.

The 28-year-old has only started five Premier League games for Liverpool this season because of a succession of niggles and the form of Roberto Firmino as the club’s number nine.

Sturridge has an excellent record of 48 goals in 67 league starts for the Reds and is desperate to play more regularly to force his way back into the England squad for the World Cup.

BBC Sport adds that Sevilla have also been linked with a move for Sturridge this month, but the Spanish side will have to put a lucrative package together to beat Inter to his signature.
