CalcioMercato claim Inter Milan are in talks to sign Roma man Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a free – a reported target for Aston Villa and Tottenham. The Armenian sees his Roma contract come to an end next month.
Mkhitaryan, 33, is set to see a three-year spell at Roma come to an end. Clocking up 145 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side after initially joining on loan from Arsenal, he has gone on to have a hand in 57 goals for Roma.
Reports emerged this week that Tottenham and Aston Villa were keen on luring him back to the Premier League, on a free. However, they both seem to be trailing Inter Milan, with a summer overhaul expected at the San Siro.
However, CM claim that Inter have opened talks with the representatives of Mkhitaryan. The report says talks started between the two parties ‘a few days ago’. Talks will continue over the next few days, for an agreement.
Inter in talks for Tottenham and Villa target Mkhitaryan
A move to Villa would be a good one for Mkhitaryan. It would give him the wages he so desires, given Villa can afford as such. He will also be first choice in a side that have just signed Philippe Coutinho on a permanent.
Tottenham would simply see him act as cover for the likes of Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski and it is a similar story at Inter. However, staying in the Serie A, which seems to suit him, will also appeal to Mkhitaryan.
