Tottenham Hotspur have been given new hope in their pursuit of Brazilian winger Malcom if reports from France are anything to go by.

According to The Sun, Tottenham were locked in a battle with Liverpoo to sign the Bordeaux winger.

The 21-year-old ended the season with 12 goals in 35 games from the wing and seven assists alerting Mauricio Pochettino and a host of other big clubs.

But reports over the weekend claimed Italian giants Inter Milan had stolen a march on Spurs in the race for the Brazilian as they prepare for their big return to Champions League football next season.

There could be good news for Tottenham, though, after RMC in France claimed Inter Milan have had a £35million bid for Malcom rejected.

And according to RMC that doesn’t mean Spurs are about to be dragged into a ridiculous bidding war because Bordeaux had no issues with the fee.

Instead the bid for the Tottenham-linked star was reportedly rejected because of how the payment was being spread out.

“An initial proposal has arrived and been rejected,” RMC claim.

“Inter are still forced to adjust for Financial Fair Play limitations and that means almost all their recent transfers have been spread out over several financial years.

“They tend to bring players in on loan with option to buy, or with an obligation to buy set at a certain number of competitive appearances.”

Pochettino looks set to reshape his Spurs squad this summer with the likes of Mousa Dembele and Moussa Sissoko linked with moves away, as reported by the likes of The Independent.
