Report: Inter make contact with Tottenham ace Lamela’s agents

Erik Lamela started Tottenham’s draw against Juventus on Tuesday night.

Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim Inter Milan have spoken to numerous contacts regarding a move for Tottenham Hotspur flyer Erik Lamela in what would be a summer transfer.

It is believed that Inter will first look to make the loan deals for Barcelona’s Rafinha and Valencia’s Joao Cancelo permanent before moving for Lamela, but are wary the fleet-footed ace will cost a high price.

The 23-cap has two and a half years remaining on his current contract, which is believed to be worth £70,000 a week according to the Daily Star.

The report claims the former Roma ace would welcome a move back to Italy, with Inter plotting a summer move for Tottenham’s number 11 as he remains on the fringes of Pochettino’s squad.

Why would he leave Spurs?

The 25-year-old started for Spurs on Tuesday night against Italian champions Juventus but had little impact when coming up against Alex Sandro, as Tottenham earned an excellent 2-2 draw in Turin.

Argentina international Lamela was a surprise inclusion in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven, given that he has started just five games all season for the north Londoners after overcoming a double hip injury that sidelined him until November.

Pochettino has hardly given Lamela the kind of game time he had prior to his injury, and that could see him become disillusioned in north London sooner rather than later.

But with the signing of Lucas Moura perhaps pushing Lamela down the pecking order, with the likes of Moussa Sissoko, Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen all vying for a spot in attacking midfield, Lamela could be tempted by a move to Inter Milan.
