Rangers striker Jermain Defoe wants to stay at Ibrox next season, according to Sky Sports.
Defoe is out of contract at Rangers at the end of the month, and the former Tottenham Hotspur striker reportedly wants to play for the Gers for another season.
It has been reported that the 38-year-old Rangers striker wants to play in front of Ibrox fans before he finishes his time at the Scottish Premiership giants.
Should Rangers hand Jermain Defoe a new contract?
Defoe is 38 now, and the former West Ham United and Tottenham striker is essentially a back-up striker at Rangers, who have won the league title this season.
According to WhoScored, the Englishman – described as “incredible” by Rangers manager Steven Gerrard on BBC Sport in January 2020 – has made three starts and eight substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process.

The veteran striker also scored one goal in one substitute appearance in the Europa League for the Gers this campaign.
Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten are the other strikers available to Gerrard at the moment.
While Rangers may not need Defoe much on the pitch, he is a very experienced footballer who could be a big influence in the dressing room and could also help out the younger players in training.
