According to The Mirror, Kalvin Phillips has told the Leeds United board that he’s prepared to sign a new contract with the club this summer.

The midfielder has, once again, been the subject of transfer speculation, with numerous outlets crediting Aston Villa with an interest in the England international.

However, unfortunately for Villa, it seems as though the Yorkshire Pirlo will be staying where he is.

Of course, there is the caveat of Leeds’ potential relegation.

The Whites have won their last two games, but they’re not out of the woods just yet when it comes to securing Premier League survival.

Phillips has told Leeds that he’s ready to sign a new deal, but talks have been put on hold until the end of the season – and that may not be a coincidence as Leeds genuinely have a chance of going down.

If Leeds are relegated, one would expect Phillips to be on the move. After all, he’s an ‘incredible’ player who is above playing Championship football at this point in his career.

Interestingly, the Mirror also state that Phillips is in the process of changing agents, and while that sounds like potentially bad news on the surface, there’s nothing to suggest that his new representatives will be angling for a move away from Elland Road.

As a boyhood fan, Phillips has incredible loyalty to Leeds, and if the Whites manage to beat the drop this season, it’s hard to imagine the midfielder looking for pastures new this summer.
