Houssem Aouar has been left stunned that Arsenal did not make a bigger attempt to sign him and he now wants to move elsewhere, ESPN say.
The Lyon midfielder appeared to be right at the top of Arsenal’s wishlist for a stage.
However, with Lyon determined to keep hold of the Frenchman, Arteta and Edu quickly turned their attentions elsewhere.
The Gunners’ lack of persistence apparently surprised Aouar, who was expecting them to push hard for his signature last summer.
Aouar, who Pep Guardiola once called ‘incredible’ (Sky), is now hoping to join Real Madrid or Barcelona instead of Arsenal in the future.
Whether the 22-year-old will have his wish granted remains to be seen.
Both Madrid and Barca don’t have the financial power that they have possessed previously, and they appear to have other targets higher up on their wish lists.

Arsenal also appear to have moved on from targeting Aouar, with Lyon wanting £54 million for him at last check (L’Equipe).
With Thomas Partey brought to the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal now seem to want a more attacking midfielder than Aouar, with a new number 10 their first priority to sign.
