Rudi Garcia has emerged as a new contender to get the Newcastle United job, the Daily Mail report.
Garcia to Newcastle?
Garcia is currently out of work, having lost his job at Lyon at the end of last season.
The Frenchman has had most his success managing in Ligue 1, where he once won the double.
And it seems that Newcastle are now looking at the potential to land Garcia as their new boss.
Steve Bruce is still at the helm at St. James’ Park, which is a surprise after their defeat against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
However, it still seems that Bruce’s days at Newcastle are numbered, with players reportedly questioning him in the dressing room after their loss to Spurs.
Garcia is a title winner in France, although his last triumph came back in 2011 with Lyon.
Similar to Pep
He has been compared to Pep Guardiola before by his former player Seydou Keita though.
He said to Forza Italian football: “Pep spoke highly of me at Barcelona because he always recognised my work for the team. Garcia is similar and reminds me of Pep, as he too likes to see his team play good football via possession and control.”
If he could have a Guardiola-like impact at Newcastle then he would be a wonderful appointment.
But placing the 57-year-old in charge would have to be considered a risk, given his lack of experience in English football.
