According to The Glasgow Evening Times, Kristiyan Malinov is open to joining Rangers and playing under manager Steven Gerrard.

Rangers are among a number of clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old central midfielder from CSKA Sofia in the summer transfer window and are considering making a move, according to the report.

SBV Vitesse, VVV Venlo, KV Mechelen and Standard Liege are also reported to be interested in the Bulgaria international, who can operate as a defensive midfielder or in an attacking position and is expected to leave CSKA this summer.

The Glasgow Evening Times has claimed that a move to Ibrox is high on the list of options for Malinov, with the report adding that a source close to the player has said that ‘having interest from Rangers is a big deal for Kristiyan and it is a privilege for him to be among contenders on their wish list’.

The report has further quoted the source as saying it would be ‘a privilege’ for Malinov to play under Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

Rangers transfer this summer?

It seems that Malinov is flattered by reported interest from Rangers and would love to move to Ibrox.

With the player reportedly so keen and Rangers considering a move, perhaps in the coming days, the transfer will be completed.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, this past season, Malinov scored two goals and provided one assist in 21 league matches, while back in 2018-19, he provided two assists in 23 league fixtures.
