Blackburn Rovers are reportedly interested in Everton striker Chris Long as he looks set to leave Goodison Park this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton face a battle to keep hold of Blackburn Rovers target Chris Long as he is keen to leave the club in order to play regular first-team football.
The report states that the 20-year-old, who impressed on loan at Brenford last season, is on the radar of a number of Championship clubs, and Blackburn are said to be among those interested.
The 20-year-old scored four goals in 11 appearances in the Championship last season, with three coming in his two starts, yet it looks unlikely that he will be a regular for the Toffees next season.
A loan move will likely appeal to Everton the most, but the Mail report indicates that the England under-20 striker is looking for a more permanent route away.
What next for Chris Long?
The 20-year-old is coming up to, perhaps, the biggest season in his career so far.
After impressing on loan in the Championship with Brentford, the Huyton-born forward will be eager to press on and gain more first-team experience. Therefore, it’s not too surprising to see him wanting a move that ensures that.
Roberto Martinez should do everything within his power to make him see that his long-term future lies with Everton, as he is a talented young player, but offer to send him out on loan.
If he leaves on a permanent basis then it could be a decision that comes back to haunt the Toffees in the future.
