It has been reported that Stones is unhappy at City at the moment after falling down the pecking order at the Citizens and is willing to move back to Everton.
The Toffees themselves are interested in securing the services of the England international central defender this summer in a cut-price deal, having sold him to Premier League rivals City in 2016 for £47 million, according to the report.
In demand
Everton are not the only club who are reported to be interested in signing Stones this summer.
The Sun has credited Arsenal with interest in the Englishman, while The Telegraph reported in May that Newcastle United are looking at him.
Back to Everton?
Stones did well during his time at Everton and earned the big move to City in 2016.
Much was expected of the 26-year-old when he arrived at the Etihad Stadium, but the defender has not really progressed and developed as much as he would have wanted to.
The England international has had injury problems as well, and one can understand why he reportedly wants to go back to Everton.
The Toffees are an ambitious club who are going places under world-class manager Carlo Ancelotti, and Stones could flourish under him.
