Juventus face a battle to keep midfield star Paul Pogba, but reports in Italy suggest they could make an audacious bid for Luis Suarez if they lose him.
Juventus have no intention of selling French ace Paul Pogba but there are whispers that the Old Lady are preparing a fallback option which involves tabling a mammoth bid for Liverpool front man Luis Suarez.
Pogba has been outstanding for Juventus this season and is becoming recognised as one of the best midfielders in Europe as well as a Bianconeri fan favourite.
In recent weeks a number of sides have been linked with a swoop for Pogba despite Juventus’ insistence that he will remain and Pogba’s contract extension beyond 2016 is still being negotiated.
Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be the most likely side to launch a bid and could step in with a staggering £50m.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has suggested that Juventus are ready to quadruple Pogba’s wages to £3.3m per year, but PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich could offer much more.
The report claims that Juve are looking for another striker at the level of Carlos Tevez and they have been keeping an eye on Liverpool star Suarez for two years.
It also states that while Liverpool must fight for Champions League qualification for next term, Juventus have as good as guaranteed their place, making them an attractive option.
However, even with a vast sum brought in for Pogba it’s unlikely that Juventus could lure Suarez and his wages would be a problem.
La Gazzetta believes that Atletico Madrid man Diego Costa and Mario Mandzukic could also be on the shopping list with the latter’s position at Bayern Munich being jeopardised by the imminent arrival of Robert Lewandowski.
