According to the Daily Mail, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye has now rejected a move to Newcastle United.
L’Equipe reported on Sunday evening that Newcastle had thrashed out a deal in principle for Gueye to join on loan for the rest of the season.
Gueye was described as being a little reluctant to join Newcastle, as whilst he wants a return to England, he would prefer to join a team higher up the table.
Now, it’s claimed that Gueye has rejected the offer to join Newcastle despite initial positive talks that he would make the move.
Gueye, 31, was a Premier League star with Everton, becoming the heartbeat of their midfield following a 2016 move from Aston Villa.
The Senegalese ace joined PSG for around £28million in the summer of 2019, and has now made 55 appearances for the French giants, bagging three goals and three assists.

Mauricio Pochettino is seemingly willing to let Gueye pursue a move back to England on deadline day, and Steve Bruce thought he was closing in on an ambitious deal.
Gueye has left Bruce to go back to the drawing board now though, with the report adding that a deal for Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury also looks unlikely now.
