Rangers may well be running out of time if they hope to sign Jordan Jones this summer, with the Daily Mail reporting on their live transfer blog (19/06; 16:15) that Hull are planning to make a six-figure bid for the Gers target.

Jones is arguably one of the most exciting players in the Scottish Premiership and has a host of admirers, with the Mail suggesting that Rangers, Derby, Sunderland and the Tigers are all looking at potentially signing him this summer as he approaches the final year of his Kilmarnock deal.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

But if the Gers hope to pull off a deal to sign the Northern Ireland international, they may have to act quickly as Hull appear to have stolen a march on their rivals for his signature, with the Mail reporting (19/06; 16:15) that the Championship club are preparing a £600,000 bid for the 23-year-old.

Rangers must now bid

Jones is not the finished article, but appears to have an enormous amount of talent and is capable of creating serious excitement when he gets onto the ball, so Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen should seriously consider acting quickly and rivalling Hull’s bid for the winger.

For £600,000 – if Kilmarnock are willing to do business for that figure – Jones would surely go on to prove a stunning bargain in the future once he has perfected his game and becomes a little more consistent.

Rangers have strengthened their wide options this summer with Jamie Murphy returning permanently and the versatile Scott Arfield also arriving, but they should not allow Hull to win the race without making Jones’ decision more difficult – especially if £600,000 is what it will take to lure him away from Rugby Park.
