According to the Mirror, Hull City are to name Mike Phelan as their new manager before their next Premier League encounter with fellow newly-promoted side Burnley.
The Tigers were said to be in turmoil in the summer when Steve Bruce walked out on them, leaving Phelan to take over a squad of just 13 players with no guarantees of new arrivals before the transfer deadline.
Many have tipped Hull to make an immediate return to the second tier, yet in his opening three games in charge Phelan has managed to secure an impressive six points with two victories.

Both the players and supporters are seemingly willing him to take on the role full time, and now fresh reports claim the Hull board will hand him the reigns ahead of their trip to Burnley next weekend.
The 53-year-old is said to have held talks with outgoing co-owner Ehab Allam on Thursday, while negotiations will continue to take place into next week.
Hull won promotion to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs last term, yet a lack of signings during the summer prompted Bruce to walk out on the eve of the new season.

The East Yorkshire club were expected to make a slow start, yet under Phelan’s guidance they picked up a 2-1 win over Leicester City and followed that up with a 2-0 triumph at Swansea City.
A number of players have since joined the club such as Will Keane, Ryan Mason and David Marshall, and now there is fresh optimism that the club can go and avoid the drop this term.
