Hull City are said to have agreed a £1.2 million fee with Leeds United.
Hull City fear that Barnsley could beat them to the signing of the Leeds United winger, Mallik Wilks, according to the Hull Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims Hull have agreed a £1.2 million deal for Wilks, who played under the new Tigers boss, Grant McCann at Doncaster last season. But a return to South Yorkshire could be on the cards with Barnsley.
It adds that Hull are concerned that the Tykes are willing to offer ‘more lucrative personal’ terms to the Leeds academy product, having sold their centre-back pairing of Liam Lindsay and Ethan Pinnock for a combined fee totalling around £5 million.
Barnsley have already added one Leeds youngster, in the shape of the centre-back Aapo Halme, this window.
Annoyingly for Hull, two of their existing wingers, Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki, are being tipped to depart before the transfer deadline.
And a combination of the fees generated from those sales and the wages saved could allow the Tigers to offer more lucrative terms themselves.
Leeds recently added Helder Costa to an already healthy pool of players in Wilks’ position, which looks to have decreased his chances at Elland Road.
