Leeds United may have a meeting with Paul Heckingbottom next season.
According to The Scottish Sun, Hull City are eyeing up Hibernian boss Paul Heckingbottom as a potential replacement for Nigel Adkins following his exit.
The Tigers saw Adkins leave the club last weekend, as he decided to walk away at the end of his contract over contractual disagreements at the KCOM Stadium.
Hull must now target a replacement after a better-than-expected showing under Adkins, and they’re seemingly eyeing up Heckingbottom for a Yorkshire return.
Heckingbottom, 41, only took over as Hibernian boss in February following Neil Lennon’s exit, but just four defeats in his first 14 games as Hibs manager has seen his stock rise again.
Hull may now seek to bring him back to Championship action, just a year since Leeds United decided to sack Heckingbottom and replace him with Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds had seen enough of Heckingbottom in just four months in the job, sending him packing in favour of Bielsa despite paying compensation to lure him from Barnsley.
Heckingbottom remains a promising young manager, and having impressed with Barnsley, he may well fancy a chance to return to the Championship and exact some sort of revenge on Leeds.
Leaving Hibs so soon would be a surprise, but the lure of returning to Yorkshire may be appealing, and we could see him taking on Bielsa next season if Hull get their way.
