The Hull City youngster scored 15 goals in all competitions last season, which is said to have sparked Everton interest.

Hull City are holding out for £20 million for Jarrod Bowen, who is wanted by the new Everton manager Marco Silva, according to the Daily Star (June 22, page 40).

The Sun reported on Wednesday that Everton are preparing a £12 million bid for Bowen, after the 21-year-old scored scored 15 goals and assisted three in his first full season in Hull’s first team.

However, after the £24 million transfer of James Maddison – who scored the same amount of goals, but provided eight more assists in five more appearances (49) – from Norwich to Leicester earlier this week, the Tigers are perhaps within their rights to demand a higher fee.

And with two years still to run on Bowen’s contract, which is said to include a 12-month extension option in Hull’s favour, the ball appears to be in the Championship club’s court.

Everton were themselves linked with a move for Maddison, who is the same age as Bowen, although it is unclear if they were ever officially in for the England Under-21 international.
