Hull City can sign the Everton starlet this week, according to a report.
According to The Hull Daily Mail, Hull City are confident of signing Everton’s Matthew Pennington this week.
The 22-year-old defender has also been linked with Middlesbrough and Leeds this summer.
But it seems like he might be headed to The KCOM Stadium as The Hull Daily Mail claims that manager Leonid Slutsky will wrap up a loan deal for the Everton man this week.
Pennington, who has been with the Toffees since he was 11, only made three Premier League appearances under Ronald Koeman last season and the £30 million acquisition of Michael Keane is unlikely to help his short-term prospects on Merseyside.
Slutsky, who also wants Liverpool winger Ryan Kent, confirmed to The Hull Daily Mail in the same report that he wants an Everton player on loan.
He said: “We have four more loan options and a player from Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton, clubs like that, of course they’re interesting for us.”
It has been a quiet transfer window for the Tigers in regards to incomings, with Chelsea younger Ola Aina – who also joined on loan – their only signing so far.
Departures in another story. Between selling and releasing players, Slutsky has lost nine figures this summer – including Tom Huddlestone, who joined Derby County – and with the Championship season set to kick off in 19 days, the Russian needs to get a move on.
